Van Cleef & Arpels

Van Cleef & Arpels is a luxury french brand that designs some of the finest jewellery, watches and perfumes. It was first established in 1892 by Alfred Van Cleef and his father in-law Salomon Arpels in Paris. Inspired by botanical and imaginary gardens, the brand have always reimagined the grace and soft verve of flowers in their creations.

Becoming renowned for their use of precious stones and inventive stone setting techniques, they were asked to create individual pieces for important figures including royal figures. Van Cleef & Arpels fashioned Empress Farah Pahlavi’s crown for her coronation in 1967 upon the Iranian governments’ request; after 11 months of designing and crafting it, it was presented to the Empress. It was made of emerald velvet set with 36 emeralds, 36 rubies, 105 pearls and 1496 diamonds. The brand have been honoured to design pieces for royals, important political figures and a number of socialites and actresses.

The company ventured into the fragrance industry in 1978, releasing a classic floral aldehyde scent named First for Women. Since its release it has maintained its popularity, Van Cleef & Arpels have introduced an abundance of perfumes since then. Including their fragrance Reve, alluding to the idea of a dream world, a scent exuding the multidimensional and vivaciousness nature of dreams. With beginning notes of pear and neroli, with floral middle notes of osmanthus, peony and lily on top of sandalwood and amber base.
